This was my first time using a plastic welder so I have no prior experience to compare it to, but it seems to work pretty good. Heats up fast (almost too fast, because my first few tries I burned right through the plastic I was trying to weld). There were a couple instances where the staple didn't want to come loose of the welder, but I think that was more of an issue with the operator not knowing what he was doing than the welder itself. The included pliers seems a bit dull to me, but it could just because they are pretty small. Overall, it seems like a good kit for a beginner.

I am very pleased with this cordless plastic welder. It is perfect for repairing small plastic parts that have broken/cracked. I used it to repair a crack in my bumper and it worked flawlessly. It gets red hot in a couple of seconds and very durable (it has already survived several drops to the ground by me and still works great). I would recommend practicing on a scrap piece of plastic first because there is a learning curve on how long to apply pressure (if you aren't careful you will poke right through thinner plastics), but once you get the hang of it, it is very easy to use. It comes neatly packaged in it's own case including the welder itself, a variety of "staples" that you can choose from depending on the problem you're solving, and pair of flush cutters to trim the staples after install, and a utility knife to trim the plastic before and after welding. Good battery life: I initially charged the battery to 100% and installed about 30 staples and it is still at 90% charge. I highly recommend and I know this will get significant use by me in the future.

This got the job done for me fixing a cracked snow shovel. You can see my handiwork in the pictures, it is pretty messy from a previous attempt to weld the plastic with steel mesh instead of staples, which was mostly unsuccessful.Overall it's a good value. The portability of cordless is huge because I can do it on site, and in open air. You need to watch closely as you work, so you will be holding your breath even outdoors. I am glad it's cordless! It heats nearly instantly and you will shoot through the plastic if you are too casual. Practice first! Then you will get the hang of it. I liked to press, then turn on and add a little heat at a time, so I could sneak into position. This was a very effective technique after I realized how tricky it is to get the depth right. With so much heat available so fast, it is dead easy as long as you are cautious. On the downside, it is limited in power. The tiny staples can't hold enough heat to enough to spread to other metal components. Part of this is due to the miniscule surface area of the staples provided. But in general I felt that while it can cut through plastic like a hot knife through butter, it didn't transfer enough heat to, say, blend a crack seam shut nearby. Or in my case, it could not heat up my previous metal screen repair enough to reset it. So it only does the staples, even though it does them very well. The bladed accessories are helpful but not outstanding. The clippers showed some light wear after the first session, I expect it to last a few more times then wear out before too long. I needed to use all my might to cut the excess staple ends because of how small the clippers were. But for the price they are basically a free add-on.It charged from 70-90% in about 15 minutes, and after about 20 staples and some sessions trying to use the staples like a soldering iron (briefly), I stopped at 60% battery. Not bad... You can feel the battery get fairly hot when charging. I would not leave it plugged in unattended! For the price, you get a fair deal based on corded versions I've seen, which are about the same price but pack more power. Ask yourself if cordless is a useful feature or a liability/limitation on a high current device like this. For me, the portability is a game changer, so I like the product overall. I can't do exotic brazing or mesh solutions, but I can get a staple into anything within a few seconds.

Excellent produit!

I've only recently became aware that a plastic welder like this were a thing. I really try my best to fix as much around my house as I can, especially kids toys. To date glue has been the heaviest hitter in my arsenal. However, there are certain breaks that happen at a point where the amount of stress is too much for a glued joint. This thing is perfect for those types of fixes since it not only joins the pieces but reinforces the strength. My youngest had a nerf-like bow and arrow set where the upper limb snapped off. This piece is connected to a bungie-like cord that puts constant strain on the repair. The plastic welder did a spot on job of fusing the piece back together in a way that could sustain the repeated stress from the bow being pulled back.It comes with pretty much everything you need to make a repair, 4 different patterns of welding staples, some flush cutters, and an knife.Using the welder is really straight forward and it heats up the staples nearly instantly. I suggest practicing a bit on something you don't care about since there is a bit of a learning curve (at least for me). Also I highly suggest doing this in a well ventilated area with some kind of mask, there will be a lot of fumes from the plastic melting.Last up, the entire package is pretty small. So it won't take up a lot of space. As something that won't be used with great frequency it is nice that it can be tucked away neatly.

This is a great tool I didn't know I needed. What it does is heat up small metal pieces that melt into the plastic and hold it together. I used it on my bumper and it worked fairly well but did require some practice. The kit itself is good and comes with the tool to cut the ends as well as a razor to cut off the melted plastic. The heating process takes about 2 seconds before it is red hot. I wasn't waiting long enough in the beginning to let it cool. It essentially functions as stitches for the crack in my bumper.
