Building a new house and installing my own water line. This was just what I needed to asure that the proper pressure flowed from the utility meter to my house. No problem to install, once I purchased the appropriate links from our plumb supply.

Had all kinds of instructions. But not written very well in my opinion. Told you how to increase pressure or decrease pressure by going clockwise or counterclockwise. BUT, plain old English. Want more water? Screw the bolt in, clockwise. Want less water, unscrew the bolt counterclockwise. Wasn’t so hard was it? That’s why I gave it a 4 star. No problem to put in and once I figured out the clockwise and counterclockwise stuff. Got it up to 70 psi.

My water pressure regular valve went out about a couple years ago and need to replace it. I used Shark bite main water shutoff a couple years ago to replace the old soldered unit and it was easy to install and it doesn't leak. Now it's time to replace the pressure regular valve. What I love about this unit is that the PRV can be replaced down the road if it goes out by loosening the two bolts and adding a new one. The other nice thing is that the valve screw connections are standard and will fit in an existing space if you choose not to use the Shark bite ends. This is a well designed unit. Pressure is spot on and easy to adjust. Set mine at 55 psi and couldn't be more pleased.

Super easy to install. I installed a 2 ft. piece of PEX tubing on either side of this regulator, because PEX is flexible, and it made installation easier. Therefore, I had to buy 2 more Sharkbite couplings at $9 each, as well as $5 on the piece of PEX, but it made the installation an absolute breeze. I cut 4-1/2 feet of copper tubing out of my line just after the city water meter, and then popped this baby right in. The whole thing took 10 minutes. And considering this regulator already comes with 2 Sharkbite fittings, I’d say the price is absolutely amazing. I adjusted it to max pressure, and we now get 70 PSI, as opposed to the dangerously high 105 PSI we had before. Great product, probably saved us from a future flooding incident.

Installed easily enough. And worked well at the factory default of 45 lbs. of pressure. For one week. Then, it caused the loudest water hammer I've ever heard. It was a fast pulsation that caused a water line to bang over and over, very quickly. Sounds like a machine gun going off in my basement. While water was running in the house, I went to this unit and touched it with my hand. I could feel it pulsating, coinciding with the water hammer banging. I then went online and read about how so many people had exactly the same problem. Go to the Sharkbite website directly and look for this item. Lots of the same complaint. Unbelievable that this thing is still on the market. Sharkbite says to keep turning up the water pressure until it stops. I'm up to 58, and I still have pulsation in the water and banging. I can't keep going up with the pressure, otherwise, what's the point of a regulator if I have to set it so high? Sharkbite also recommends upgrading to the EB25, which is more than double the price of this unit. Replace a brand new unit? Why oh why is this thing being sold. This has completely drained my confidence in Sharkbite. I would rate at zero stars if I could.

UPDATE June 2021: the PRV is still in place, but I replaced the internal valve last year after it had stopped working. The original PRV was not recovering water pressure after the sprinkling system was activated, or when two or more faucets were in use. I was unable to remove the SharkBite fittings from the copper pipe, so I disconnected the fittings from the main PRV body and swapped it out with the new one PRV body. No leaks in over seven years. Its also very important to have a properly sized water expansion tank installed. This was a great DIY solution for problems caused by high municiple water pressure. I originally only gave 3 stars because the product arrived damaged and was returned, but a replacement has worked well so it warrants five stars. I did purchase another one locally so that I could finish my repair on time and it works great. They could’ve done a better job of isolating the metal parts within the box.
