Have Kitchen aid mixer so bought this attachment to crush ice. Does the job. Have to have bulky mixer out every time plus have to use their molds for the ice. Too much work if you need crushed ice regularly.

Just like the snow cones you get at stands/fairs! Definitely follow the freezing instructions and times for best results.

We tried this out a couple of days after receiving it and 2 of the cups makes enough shaved ice for 3 people. I didn't know ahead of time to have my syrup cold, next time! Very easy to operate and not hard to clean up.

The cup colds are very small. Appropriate size for a child but not for a teen or adult. My hand grinder makes twice as much in the same time and is easier to clean.

It's been an interesting experience so far. While the attachment works well in creating shaved ice, it's not the most intuitive process straight out of the box. You really need to carefully read through the instructions to get the hang of it.One important tip from the instructions is to avoid leaving the ice molds in the freezer for too long, as it can reduce the life of the shaving blade. They recommend only freezing the molds for 24-48 hours. Additionally, after removing the molds from the freezer, you have to wait 10 minutes before using them "...to improve the effect...". I'm not entirely sure what that means, but I've been following that guidance. To actually get the shaved ice out of the molds, I found that it helped to run them under the faucet for a few seconds to loosen the ice. The instructions don't really mention this.Interestingly, the side of the box claims it's a "good helper for sorbet making", but there's no mention of how to use it for that purpose in the actual instruction manual. A bit confusing, but maybe I'll experiment with sorbets later. On the upside, the instructions do include some interesting shaved ice recipe ideas that I haven't tried yet, like using coffee in the molds and mixing the shaved ice with milk and/or ice cream.Overall, despite the bit of a learning curve, I've successfully made a couple of batches of shaved ice so far, and I'm getting better at the process with each try. And thankfully, there are countless flavors and suppliers of syrups available on Amazon to get creative with different combinations. While not the most user-friendly product out of the box, with careful reading of the instructions, this attachment may turn out to be a fun addition to my mixer.

I like that this ice shaving attachment comes with 8 plastic ice molds, so that many different servings can be frozen at the same time, which can then be enjoyed by multiple people without waiting a long time in between.Anyway, while this ice shaving attachment works well, the price seems a bit high for an attachment that's not actually made by KitchenAid. I've noticed that the prices for a lot of these are a bit high too though, and that the price of this one is actually reasonable when compared with them. However, I DID see one that was similar to this one for $35. So if this is one of the first ones you've looked at, you might want to check some other ones out before you decide for sure. Because there's also another kind of ice shaving attachment out there. Notice how this one is sort of horizontal based? Well, the other kind that I've seen is vertical based. And most of those that I've seen come with two different blades that can produce different consistencies of shaved ice. At lest, that's what I think they are for. But I've never used that kind before, so I can't say if it's any better than this kind or not. What I DO know for sure though, is that this ice shaving attachment works plenty well enough.

Easy to use. Ice is still a little harder than shaved ice normally is. But good quality
