Since buying my mixer a few years ago I’ve kept an eye out for accessories, since the mixer is essentially a powerful motor than can be attached to all kinds of tools. I have a shaved ice machine somewhere that I bought years ago, but since the KitchenAid mixer is on the counter anyway this accessory is much easier to use - just pre-freeze the ice molds, pop this accessory on, and seconds later you have shaved ice.

This shaved ice attachment for a kitchen aid mixer works well, but seems overpriced for what it is. It's an attachment that you add to the front of the mixer that crushes ice cubes made of juice. You get a number of cups to make the juice in, but I cannot determine if anything - including the cups - is dishwasher safe. As a result, I have decided to handwash everything, meaning we don't use it as much.I think ideally it'd be nice to be able to crush ice and use those cubes as the base for a smoothy - but that is not how this product works. You must freeze juice in the provided cubs.For the price, I think that everything should be made of higher quality materials and that it should be clearly dishwasher safe.

love it love it! wish all the ice would be used but it leaves a disc each time and you cannot add another full ice with the partial disc so there is a little waste. It is fun, easy to clean, and the kids love it!

My review is based on a comparison of this device to those others. Full disclosure, I’m returning this.My main reason for returning is the poor ice quality. I like shaved ice. Without spending hundreds, it’s hard to get the same quality you’d find at a stand or Bahama Bucks, but other devices I own (that also cost less) come much closer. This produced tiny crunchy chips, not a “shaved” texture.Don’t buy this unless it’s on sale. For the price, even on sale, you can do much better. The manual cranking devices produce a better shave but take longer. All things considered, the Hawaiian Shaved Ice S900A is still my favorite and costs less.I wasn’t a fan of how tiny the ice blocks were. You have to use the included proprietary cups. If you only used one, it didn’t produce enough snow for a single paper cone or small cup. Therefore, to get a decent sized serving, you had to reset the device over and over. I lost interest after two ice blocks. If I had to make several servings my review would be much harsher. My Hawaiian Ice machine can hold a much bigger block so I usually get two servings or one massive (teenage boy) serving.Overall, I was hoping to get the same quality and be able to remove a bulkier device. Instead, I’m sticking to what I’ve got because I’m picky about the ice texture.

We own another shaved ice device but rarely use it because it's tucked away in a cabinet. I saw this item and thought it would be great to use my mixer to make one of my favorite treats. It took me a few tries to be able to use it properly, but I eventually figured it out. My mixer sits on my counter, which makes it easily accessible. I have to remember to keep the molds ready in the freezer and sometimes I forget. Overall, I like this attachment, but I think it's pricey for the quality and use.
