Product Description

Single Mode WDM Single Fiber Bi-Di Gigabit Media Converter - Built-in Fiber Module 20km (12.42 Miles) Simplex SC – to UTP Cat5e Cat6 10/100/1000 RJ-45

Save on fiber infrastructure, using only 1 fiber

Extend your Gigabit or Fast Ethernet Network Over Single Mode Single Fiber Up to 20 km (12.42 miles) using 1310 / 1550 nm & 1550 / 1310 nm With Ease

AN-UMG130 (150)-AS-20J Singlemode Single Fiber Media Converter Will Automatically Detect 10 Mbit/s or 100 Mbit/s Fast Ethernet or 1000 Mbit/s Gigabit port

You just need plug in the cables and it will work right away!

Powering it up?

Easy, it will come with an AC power adapter in the set, just plug it in!

Sturdy, Stable, and Easy To Use

  • Supports Jumbo Ethernet Frames up to 9000 bytes (if needed, configurable by dip switches);
  • Supports QinQ and VLAN's - MTU size big enough to pass them through;
  • One 1000Base-LX Single Mode Single Fiber port Port with SC type connector - up to 20 km (12.24 miles) distance using 1310nm/1550nm wavelengths (only 1 fiber strand needed between units!)
  • One 10/100/1000Base-T RJ-45 port Autosensing featured - adapts to all 3 speeds!
  • Compliant with IEEE 10/100/1000Base-T and 1000Base-LX WDM BiDi
  • Connect RJ-45 UTP copper port to Gigabit or Fast Ethernet ports or even legacy 10Mbit/s ports - all will work!
  • When used standalone (paired with other devices), be sure to check that wavelengths match - and A side is used on pairs with B side - WDM technology to successfully utilize 1 fiber strand for full duplex communications requires A side to be working on 1310nm/1550nm and B side with 1550nm/1310nm. Double check this before you install the units!

These things just work. Quick and reliable set up. I used these to network my shop to my house.

I was having problems with some other media convertors (10Gtek) working between Fortinet switches. It seems they don't all support the QinQ or VLAN Stacking that Fortilink apparently uses to connect between devices. These do support QinQ and my Fortiswitches connected up flawlessly after installing them.

The pair of units were tested with a single optical fiber. Within seconds the communication was established at 1Gbits/seconds. The units are compact, low power and have good shielding. No EMI were detected outside the enclosures. I used a 5 Meters SC to SC Fiber Optic Cable Single-Mode for this test. I recommend the product and customer service has been responsive to my inquiries.

This set of media converters work perfectly, offering full duplex communication over a single fiber. But make sure you consult with the manufacturer for the correct fiber type, because the one AMAZON is showing in this ad, under the category of items (frequently bought together) is the wrong cable and will not work! The correct fiber type for these adapters is SC/UPC-SC, and will have blue connector ends. Again, the ones AMAZON is showing will NOT work.For background, I use these media converters between my modem and router for additional isolation/protection from external surges. The switching power supplies offer reasonable ground isolation, while the fiber provides a path through which no electrical surge can pass. I've used other fiber media converters in electric utility substations for similar protection, to isolate sensitive equipment from remote sensors near high voltage buses. There has been no loss in internet functionality or speed with this addition, in fact various internet speed tests show identical results.

It was as simple a “plug and play” device as I have encountered anywhere, and did exactly what I wanted. I am now expanding my system with more devices from ad-net and am working with their excellent customer support team to get the best set of products for my needs. They have helped me avoid what would have been a long-term design mistake. So, not only great value and quality, but an excellent team to back it up!

Works awesome. Wdm means only one fiber is needed. Super fast and simple. Great quality.

Was not familiar with this company but was looking for a device to replace a 100 fdx device in order to achieve gigabit speed over single mode simplex fiber (device I replaced was Planet Fast Ethernet Bridge 10/100Base-TX). If you are looking for a solution outside of an sfp module, I recommend this device.Ran several tests over the fiber link and I was consistently receiving just under 900 Mbps with little to zero packet loss. The test I was using was a powershell script that would write a dummy file to a mapped drive on the other end of the fiber. To make sure the 900 Mbps was a hard drive limitation and not a bottle neck at the media converter, I ran the same test on the same network segment (not going through the fiber) and the results were comparable.Compared to the media converter it replaced, it runs cooler and seems to use less power which surprised me considering the speed advantage.The only semi negative thing I can find about the device is that I am not sold on the inline power brick as opposed to the power brick being on the charger port. It's not a major issue, just requires little work to tidy up the installation.

We needed a device to go from fiber to ethernet. This was not the device for that. It goes from Ethernet to fiber. It does act as an Ethernet extender via fiber by going from Channel A to B. Transmit box to receive box. Appears to be well made, tho we did not end up using it.
