I use the 18 gauge bio-phase string, strung at 55 lbs. on four duplicate Head rackets of a 97 square inch sting surface. I'm a 4.5 player and hit the ball hard, backhand and forehand, with moderate top spin. Granted, the thin strings wear out fairly quickly, but I use my four rackets to spread the string wear lasting about five weeks. The strings respond well to my hitting - I can tell by feel how the ball will travel off the strings. I hit hard, but ATP players would never use such a thin gauge. Their 95 mile-per-hour baseline power would snap the strings in five minutes. Nadal's enormous top spin might snap an 18 gauge in five strokes. Still, I like the feel and response of the bio-phase. By the time the strings wear out, it's time to restring anyway to remain at a fairly constant mid 50s string tension. I have an excellent stringer at the pro shop who never damages the strings in the stringing. A poor string job and the condition of the racket can cause a sitting-still racket string to pop.

These are thin strings--I never got to use them because they broke in two places immediately after stringing. On my Yonex Ezone AI-100 racquet, the recommended tension ranges from 45-60 pounds. I had the racquet strung at 57 pounds and within minutes they popped in two places while the racquet was leaning against the wall. I don't know if these strings simply can't handle 57 pounds or if they were defective. Amazon is refunding my order and I'll be looking for different strings.
