Step 1:
Oxygen sensors are typically located along the exhaust pipe. Pls consult your vehicle's manual

Step 2:
Disconnect the electrical connection with wrench that connects the oxygen sensor to the car's wiring

Step 3:
Use an oxygen sensor socket to loosen and remove the old oxygen sensor.

Step 4:
Thread the new oxygen sensor into the exhaust pipe and tighten it with the oxygen sensor socket.

Step 5:
Reconnect the electrical connection to the car's wiring.

Take a good look at your electrical connector before ordering this. There is more than one style. When this part didn't match the one removed from my 2001 Camry CE I went to the local NAPA shop and found out that despite being sold on the U.S. East Coast, the O2 sensor installed was for the California emissions system.

The connector is different from the one on the original sensor for my 99 Camry (see photo for difference). Of the three items that I ordered on Amazon for my Camry, two didn't fit. It looks like a pervasive problem.

I have pictures of the issue. The part checker asked for my vehicle make, model, year, engine, and even transmission and I typed it all in correctly and it said this upstream oxygen fits but it has different color wires, a different connector that doesn't plug into my car, and it broke my connector when I plugged it im because I thought it was supposed to fit after Amazon confirmed it fit.
