Way too lightweight to pound anything. Well, a bug, perhaps. Instead of wasting your money on this, use the bottom of a pan. I tried using my potato masher; it worked surprisingly well.

This is one item that wi t tarnish in the dish washer, it’s a few ounces lighter than my old one but still gets the job done
