These shades are much heavier than I thought they were going to be. They actually weigh about a pound each. I thought they were going to be a very, very thin metal and, they are thin, but they’re heavy at the same time. The hole in the center of the shade is 1.62”, which will accommodate a socket but it must be one that’s threaded so a socket ring can be screwed on, which is the how the shade stays on. The metal is smooth and painted nicely.I absolutely love them. I haven’t put them on any of my lights yet but they’re going to look very nice and the pattern is a lot of fun.
