My wife purchased a little trailer with a small side door. At the bottom of it was this little holding latch - a plastic version - used to secure the open door to the side of trailer if you needed it open yet not swinging freely in the breeze. Then it occurred to me: this is exactly the type of thing I need on my metal workshop exterior doors to keep the wind from slamming them closed. I had considered just using the old hook-and-eye screw set, but these catches were so much cleaner and secure. But I didn't mount them low like on the trailer. On my building, I mounted them just a little below the door handle level where I wouldn't have the stoop down to catch or release. I mounted the catch plate to the door, and the catch "T" to the building (just like you would on an RV door.) I have one on the front and one on the back door now. They look good, are simple to use, easy to install, and are more than strong enough for the task. If that little plastic version ever breaks on the trailer, I know what I'll replace it with!

Purchased to hold my shed door open. Very helpful, good value for the money, excellent fit, durability is good and latch quality is good, works well for my needs.

These are sturdy and work great. However, the install needs to be a little more precise because there is not much room for error, since they do not bend. Also, if they are continuously outdoors, they will rust.

I have used these before. I had to put a slite bend in them but it is easy enough if you have a bench vise.

These work great, install easily, seem strong. BUT.... YOUR DOOR AND MOUNTING WALL MUST BE PARALLEL! I did NOT plan for the angle between the door to the side of the trailer, and these DO NOT allow for that! I don't know if there are other products like these that DO allow for the angle created between the door and side of the trailer or not, I bought these just expecting they'd work perfectly. They work with my installation modification. I added several small washers to one side of both mounting plates (door and trailer sides) in order to change the angle from 90% to whatever the angle was that I needed. That worked, but these would not have worked at all without them. If I had not made the modification to the install with the use of the washers, these would not have worked at all.Unless the gap where your door meets your trailer, or whatever you intend to use these for, is exactly parallel with each other, plan on them either not working or to make installation modifications of your own.

Very durable and made well. You have to purchase your own screws. I purchased these for my dads wood work building to hold the doors open. No problem in wind or no wind. Love them.

We bought these for our barn doors to hold them open while we are in there working and they are just exactly what we needed. They are sturdy and do the job. I would have preferred black, but the only black ones we could find anywhere were plastic, so we got these. I'm glad we did.
