The slightest change in weight distribution will cause this to slip. Do yourself a favor and just get someone to hold the ladder.

I had been using an extension ladder for 20 years to access the attic in the garage.Last week was the first time it slipped.Luckily I caught myself and was able to hook the ladder with my foot and climb down.After some research, I chose this anti-slip mat.It works great. I could not make it slip even when kicking it.

This had a slight off-gassing smell but not nearly what I was prepared for based on other reviews. It's real rubber, like tires, it smells at first. Only if you stick your nose up to it though, it won't stink up your room. It's nice, flexible rubber and has a lot of give to it, just right so the ladder feet do not move. I'm not a fan of being up on a ladder so this extra bit of safety is important to me.

Simple yet effective. This little mat has made gutter cleaning much more enjoyable (well, as 'enjoyable' as gutter cleaning can be, lol ) because it makes the process of of stabilizing a ladder on a metal porch roof much safer.

I am painting my family room which has 16 ft high ceilings. Obviously I must use an extension ladder to trim the ceiling and walls. I had new hardwood floors installed a couple months ago and wanted to have an extra layer of protection for the floors.I GOT BOTH PROTECTION AND NON-SLIP.Yes, I am crazy but I actually put 3.5 mil plastic sheeting on the floor as a drop cloth and put the mat on the floor. Even on the plastic the mats do not move. I love these things. Bought two and very happy I did. I place one mat and then move the ladder from one mat to the other to reposition. No slipping, no damage to the floors.VERY VERY HAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT!!!And yes, as some of the other reviews state, it did have a strong petroleum smell when it first arrived. I took it out of the plastic bag it was shipped in and put them in my garage for several days. The smell is almost gone. I would not let this deter you from buying this product. It is a rubber based product (made from petroleum that makes it non-slip.Don't second guess it, buy this product and be safe!!!

I purchased this mat to perform a job that would be inside on wood floors. It not only protected the floors, but gave the ladder a sure footing
