Shellfish must be hard shells, thin shells can't be opened. Hard shells can be opened only when they hit hard.

Nicely looking machine - cool conversation starter! When it works, it works well!The only problem (and it is a big one in my book) is that nature does not always cooperate and does not produce the perfect oysters for the machine - if only we could "made it".When oyster is put under the blade (vertical) it must expose the entry point (hinge) for the blade to get in direct contact with, then it works otherwise go back to the good ol' shucking knife.
