It should be mentioned in the description that this is in centigrade only. I make English toffee every year for the holidays and need a precise 300 degree F reading. This is of no use to me as is.

La température était relativement précise mais la ''cage'' de protection (en plastique) a fondu au bout de 2 utilisation. Apparemment, elle ne supporte pas les hautes températures (logique, c'est du plastique)... Le comble pour un thermomètre à sucre, censé indiquer des températures au moins jusqu'à 180°C (température d'un caramel classique)...

Rien de tel pour cuire un sucre qu'un thermomètre confiseur traditionnel. Le seul bémol est la gaine en plastique qui s'abîme.

Effectivement, il faut faire une bonne quantité de sirop, mais j'ai la chance d'avoir hérité d'une casserole à sirop en cuivre de 14 cm de diametres donc pas de soucis...Sinon vous pouvez toujours raccourcir le bout du thermometre au cutter pour bien faire penetrer ce dernier dans le fond de la casserole sans qu'il ne touche le fond.Je n'ai pas la possibilité de vous faire de photo, mais c'est ce que j'ai fait et cela fonctionne parfaitement.

Accurate temperature and responds quickly to temperature changes. It is rather large, but after all it is made for professionals who are probably making more than a cup or two at a time. The size helps the accuracy, and I think that is worthwhile.

This is an excellent product-but a bit too large for home candy making and pastry making. When I melt sugar for Italian Meringue-I use small amounts and the tip of this thermometer was not low enough to properly reflect the accurate temperature. You need a lot of product in the pan for this item to work well. However, it does work very well when you meet the requirements.
