I have an engine with a known problem and tested this kit on it to see if it would detect the issue. I went through each cylinder and everything worked great. It found the one with bad rings and showed zero issues with the good. On top of that, this kit will work for diagnosing other things like blown head gaskets, cracked blocks, valve leakage, etc. Although I haven't had the opportunity to test for each of these things, I trust that it will work based on my experience with it.The kit seems to be of high quality. It's certainly better than some of the cheaper alternatives on the market. Everything comes in a hard plastic carrying case. You get your thread adapters, a 2 foot hose, and the gauges.I am no professional but I am familiar enough to know how to use the kit and it works well enough to find the problems. That's all I expect from it and I am satisfied.

Often times a compression test will tell you that one or more cylinders are bad, but it won't tell you why that is. That is where a leakage tester comes into play. By pressurizing the cylinder and reading the back pressure you will see how big the loss is, but you'll also be able to determine where it's coming from. A super handy tool that helps you determine how big of a job it's going to be.
