I was super excited about this! I already own an electric snow cone machine, but I grabbed this manual TOXIC WASTE Mini Snow Cone Machine to gift to my nephews, because every time they visit, we go through tons of ice making snow cones. This one is compact, easy to use, and perfect for little hands. No electricity needed means it’s great for taking outside, too! The DIY stickers were a cute touch, and the included cups are a nice bonus. I think they’re going to have a blast using it all summer long!

This little manual sno ball/snow cone machine is cute, fun, and easy to use. I just have a few notes. Don’t over fill the green ice cups. I made this mistake initially and had to cut part of the ice block off before I could use it. It froze too big and I couldn’t close the top and lock it. Once I fixed that error, this was really simple, just lock , turn and voila! Ice. The ice shavings are softer than a snow cone, but not as soft as sno ball ice. (There’s a difference. I live in Louisiana.) I would also recommend refrigerating your syrups (not included) so that your ice doesn't melt too fast. This kit also came with some stickers to put on the machine, but I just gave them to my kiddo to play with. All that said, we’re pretty pleased with this! Gonna make the summer a bit more fun!

When I saw that this little gadget was affiliated with Hawaiian Shaved Ice, I was hoping it'd produce ice similar to what you'd find in Hawaii—light and delicate. That wasn't quite what I got—the result was more like icy chunks, definitely heavier and less refined than what you'd get in Hawaii (and even much more less than the snow ice you might find in countries like Taiwan). That said, it's still a super-fun activity to do with the kids. On a hot summer day, they're not going to mind too much.We used to have one of those Snoopy Sno-Cone Makers which were a disappointment. This one is far easier to use and convenient to clean when you're done (although you do need to be careful of the blade). I like how it's mechanical and not electrical, so it's a nice old-school activity for kids away from ubiquitous electronics and of course a lot safer when you don't have an electrical cord surrounded by melting ice.Setup is quick, although you do need an adult with pretty strong hands to put it together. The lid is spring-loaded with spikes that push down the ice (which I appreciate much more than snow cone makers where you have to apply the pressure). You fill the container with ice (regular ice works fine) and then it takes a bit of work to get the lid closed and screwed in. The container itself has a very sharp blade, so you definitely want to keep that away from small children. The handle comes separately, you just need to snap it in and you're ready to go.If you have multiple kids, they'll probably be fighting over who gets to turn the handle; it's a lot of fun, very smooth (even more small kids), and very satisfying to see "snow" coming out of the machine. About 6 ice cubes will produce a bowl full of "snow". Speed-wise, you can turn it as slow or as fast as you want, and it'll still work fine. It's noisy of course as the ice gets ground by the blade, but since there are no electronics you won't have to deal with the noise of a motor.Syrup is not included, which is odd because you'd think with the partnership with Toxic Waste candy they'd want to do a little branding by including their own flavors (which exist). But I bought some syrup from Hawaiian Shaved Ice here on Amazon, which I love because it's made in the USA. When poured over the ice, it tastes wonderful.I like that unlike other machines like this, there are no foul odors coming off the plastic when you open the box. There are also some stickers for the kids to decorate it with. The main problem with gadgets like this, of course, is that over time the blade will wear out. The manual even says "you may want to replace it yearly" but they don't give any clues about where to buy them. It's a very specific design, and replacement blades for Hawaiian Shaved Ice's commercial machines won't fit.Nonetheless, it should last you a few summers depending on how heavily you use it. Don't expect shave ice of the quality of a Fujimarca MC-709SE, but do expect a lot of fun with the family on hot summer days.

Such a cool little snow cone machine! This actually worked better than I expected and keeps my little one distracted with a cold treat. I like the ease of just freezing some water in the cups provided and then dumping it into the top. It’s very straightforward and the amount that comes out is perfect. Takes about 2 minutes to fully use and I think the only “con” would be that the sound of the shaving is very loud especially since it’s manually done.

This snow cone machine has been a lot of fun for my great grandkids and myself. My great grandson sure enjoyed putting the decals on. I did learn right away to only fill the cups, which come with the machine, only halfway. More than that and the lid won't fit to shave the ice. I can also put 4 icecubes in the machine to fill the cups making snow cones for us all. I also use shaved ice in my soft drinks. I keep the syrups we all like on hand. With summer coming up, I know we are going love the cold, icy treats.

While the machine works well enough, it seems very odd to market this as a Toxic Waste shaved ice machine when it doesn't even come with a sample of any Toxic Waste flavors. So the only thing Toxic Waste about this is the sticker, which left me with some disappointed kiddos. Also, you have to put the sticker on yourself - just a baffling decision! So yes, the machine works as intended, but I'd be lying if I weren't disappointed that it didn't come with any flavoring.

This shaved ice machine is fantastic! It works well and I love the fact that there are no spinning blades/batteries to hassle with. The Ice maker comes with little green cups that you can freeze ice pucks into or you can just throw ice cubes into the hopper to grind up.It's much easier to use ice cubes, and they shave into a fine almost powdery ice, perfect for snow cones. The machine is easy enough for my kids to use, even my 5 year old was able to crank that thing with no problems to make her own shaved ice. It's a cleverly designed product, with a spring loaded puck with teeth to push the ice down into the blade to shave it. I'll be getting a lot of use out of this thing in the summer time, it's simple design makes it easy to use and clean up.
