This is not a 1 person job definitely needed a second hand. Overall was pretty easy to install once we got going. It looks beautiful and runs well. No excessive noise.

Instructions were not as bad as I expected, I could likely write clearer ones but that is the case for most things aside from Ikea furniture. I was a little perturbed initially as the fan made a slight noise of metal sliding on metal with no obvious point of contact but I let it run overnight and that noise has mostly subsided, the manual says to wait 24 hours for the fan motor to "break-in" but even now it is mostly silent. Up close it may not feel like the best quality materials but from 4 feet away you can't tell so I am happy with it especially considering the price. I paired it with a lutron maestro fan switch as I don't like using the chains to leave the fan on and turn the light off etc. I don't like the bulky 1980's looking remotes you can buy for the same price as this switch. The switch works in a similar way though, no extra wiring at the wall, just an extra box in the ceiling that communicates via RF and is powered by the wiring in place so its the same as installing a fan remote basically.

i am currently sitting on my covered deck with this fan cooling the air as i type this review. love the fan, its a great size for my 14 X 26 foot deck and i can feel the breeze almost to the very edge. it was easy to install and has not been affected the cold weather, looks good with the rest of the deck and everyone who has seen it wanted to know where i got it.

I have been looking for a simple, black matte fan for a while that doesn't look outdated or bulky. I impulse bought this fan one night and was pleasantly surprised.Instalation was pretty standard. I used the flush mount directions.Personally feel like the marble side of the fan blades look cheap however the solid side looks great, nice idea to give options.Fan looks great up, and doesn't wobble at all!! Before I had it fully set up I thought it was going to because I could wiggle the base no matter how tight I drilled the screws. The light is also more powerful than expected after reading reviews. Works well for a bedroom at least. The only reason I'm giving this fan 4 out of 5 starts is the airflow is not as powerful as I expected. However it's just enough to give a nice breeze. If you want a very strong wind this is not the fan for you.I will definitely consider buying 2 more for the other bedrooms when the time comes.***4 YEAR UPDATE:***Updating my review from 4 to 5 starts. I freaking love this fan. Almost 4 years ago I bought this fan for my master bedroom, no issues at all. At the time of my first purchase I don't believe there was a LED light/fan option, so I had the regular version. This time around the LED one was the only matte black one in stock. I'm ready to update my two guest rooms with matching fans, so I go for the LED this time. As I was just about to purchase 2 of these I see a similar unbranded ceiling fan that looks EXACTLY the same on Amazon for $30 cheaper... I tend to go for the deals, so I almost bought two of those instead, but strange enough that seller only allows one purchase per customer (seriously never have seen that before), so I see this as an opportunity to compare the "new" LED Westinghouse fan to this matching unbranded fan. While the quality of the products were slightly different, they definitely still felt similar pre install, plus they had the same installation process. However, after installation I felt the Westinghouse fan was the quality product and far worth the $30 price difference. When you pull on the chain to the unbranded fan, the housing with the lights wobbles a little, it doesn't feel quite as sturdy as the Westinghouse one. Also, the Westinghouse house fan in SO QUIET. The unbranded fan had a slight hum from the motor that I personally can't stand. The more I listen to the two I want to return the unbranded one so bad, but that sounds like such a hassle to uninstall and return. Learn from my lesson! As for the LED light, yes it is bright! Brighter than the regular bulbs for the first Westinghouse fan. But it seems like the perfect brightness for a bedroom in my opinion. It's also not overly yellow or white. It's just a perfect medium.I'm actually moving into a new house in 5 months and 100% will be buying 3 more of these for my new place as well.

To start off I love the design of this fan and kept watching on amazon for the price to drop so it would be worth the purchase. They had it listed at 119 and when it finally dropped to 109 I went to purchase this fan and it sold out. I monitored amazon and they finally put it back for sale with a returned fan for a price of 86 dollars. I pulled the trigger and purchased the fan immediantly. It came packaged and unopened and everything inside was still individually wrapped. I got everything out and noticed the globe was shattered. I called amazon and they said I would have to return the whole fan and refund me money (I did not want to do this because they did not have any black ceiling fans in stock). So I called Westinghouse and the customer support there was fantastic. They said that I could purchase the globe from them and they could ship it to me so I took this option since the fan was so cheap. They shipped the globe and I recieved it a few days later and did not recieve a charge for the globe as they said they appreciated my business. Anyhow my dealings with both Amazon and Westinghouse made this purchase worthwhile now we will get onto the actual review of the fanThe fan itself was a little hard to install if you want to do a flush mount to the ceiling instead of using the down rod. The down rod has a tie which you can hang the fan while you hook up the wires. I attempted to hook up a universal remote with this fan however teh remote was junk and caused the lights to flicker and how hard is it really to pull a chain. The wiring was straight forward if you ever hooked up an outdoor motion light or anything like that you can hook this fan up. I would highly suggest getting a partner to help hold the fan while you wire it and then place it on the mount however if you have another tall step ladder I just set the fan on there to hook the wiring up. They do give you a few feet of extra wire to work with so it does make it easier. Putting the blades on was tedious work as you have to screw them in through a small slot in the metal housing. As for the operation the fan is quiet on the highest speed and not even noticeable on the lower setting. The light is decently bright I have 2 candleabra LED lights in it. On the highest speed it throws off a lot of air and the lower speeds jsut enough to get the room circulating. The fan blades do reverse with the flip of a switch on the housing above the fan blades. Overall I am very happy with this purchase and the operation of the fan
