This adapter does what you expect it to, it passes a 480p video signal through HDMI from a Wii. Video quality is much better than composite, and more convenient than a component cable since modern TV's typically don't that now.Only had a couple of things to note:1. Audio quality seemed a bit 'shrilly' on high frequencies compared to composite audio.2. Really wish there was a switch to switch between a 4:3 and 16:9 output. I had to tinker with my TV to get it looking as expected.Overall, it does the job, and can recommend it for your Wii Sports cravings.

Works perfectly for an old Nintendo Wii. Has been a month and still going strong.

I have an old OG Wii and this did not work for me. It acts like there is something connected but just get a black screen.

Lately I've had a hankerin' to revisit the Metroid Prime Trilogy. Yes, I still have my WiiU available, offering a system that'll play Wii discs over HDMI. But all these years later, I still keep my Wii for two reasons: my Gamecube catalog (which WiiU infamously does not play), and the fact that I softmodded my console years ago for emulation purposes. But on to the adapter…Since I last had my Wii hooked up, I've upgraded to a TV that not only is 4k, but *lacks* analog inputs, rendering my trusty component cable obsolete. Enter this Wii-to-HDMI adapter. First thing I'll note is that while the HDMI still carries both audio & video, the adapter can also split the audio off to a stereo 3.5mm TRS jack. I'm not exactly sure why, but I can confirm both work with zero lag. I checked this by leaving my TV's current connection to my receiver and plugging the adapter's 3.5mm into a spare input on the same receiver and switching between the two. Volume is identical, and lag (or more accurately, lack thereof) similarly identical. On the video side, it works as advertised. Double-check the Wii's video settings so that it's outputting 16:9 @ 480p, and you're good. Now, bear in mind, 480p on a modern 2160p screen won't be the prettiest thing you'll ever see. But it DOES work, and that's all it claims. I knew to not expect some miraculous upconverting. Color me neither underwhelmed nor overwhelmed, simply…whelmed. For doing exactly as it advertises without issue, I'm giving the full five stars. That said, I'd only give a serious purchase recommendation for this device if your needs are like mine: A deep, sudden wave of nostalgia for the Wii's (and perhaps the Gamecube's) underrated exclusive catalog, while trying to hook up to a newer TV lacking component/composite inputs. If this sounds like what you've run into, don't hesitate to snag this adapter. Have fun riding the wave, fellow gamer!

So - to start - I still have my Wii, and my 4 yr old loves it. Over the years I've tried adapting the video to current televisions - and have had - not adequate success. The adapter I removed - used the existing Wii A/V cables - plugged into a powered converter to HDMI box, then HDMI to the television. The resolution was not very good. But hey, my 4 yr old didn't care.Back to my impression. I noticed an immediate difference in resolution.I was actually very excited that I NO longer needed the powered converter - AND besides the adapter - ran a HDMI cord directly to the back of the Wii.GAME CHANGING haha - no pun intended I promise.I HIGHLY recommend this adapter - we have been using it on and off for 2 weeks now.Anyone who is still playing their Wii - NEEDS this.

I'm probably the last person on Earth still playing the Wii. I can't help it; I love boxing and RE4. I bought one of the Wii component cable adapters a long time ago. For some reason, I never realized that there were Wii to HDMI adapters now available until I saw this one advertised. This is excellent because I can now run everything through my auto-switching HDMI switchbox.Well, it does exactly what it says on the tin. There is no power supply necessary, no smartphone app, no USB connection, or software required. Just plug it in, and it instantly works. The details say something about changing the screen resolution. I didn't have to change anything. It worked on the first try, and my HDMI switchbox automatically switches to the Wii when I power it on.

It is a little challenging to get to work. Have to fiddle with it a bit to work but when it does it is great. Picture quality isn't perfect but it is nice to actually be able to use the Wii
