Functional as well as beautiful, this 3-quart saucepot and 2-quart steamer insert are made of heavy 18/10 stainless steel polished to a mirror finish. The pot has an aluminum core in its base to spread heat quickly and evenly. The core is completely clad in stainless steel so, like the rest of the pot and the steamer, the pot bottom resists corrosion and discoloring and cleans up easily. Thick rolled rims add durability and make it possible to pour from the pot without dripping. Because the pot is 4-1/2 inches deep and comes with a tight-fitting, domed lid, it is roomy enough to simmer stocks and soups and can also be used for braising veal shanks or for cooking chili on the stovetop or in the oven. (The handles are oven-safe to 350 degrees F and stay cool on the stovetop.) The pot and steamer are dishwasher-safe and come with a lifetime warranty against defects. --Fred Brack

This works great. Dual purpose pot and steamer. I’m very happy with it.

Great pot and steamer, I just leave it on the stove I use it soo much. And Farberware is a brand that has been around for a VERY long time because they make above-standard quality kitchen utensils.

I wish it had a see-through glass lid, but I LOVE this easy-to-use steamer pot's sturdy yet lightweight build. It's a cute, retro build, including bakelite handles, and shiny stainless that STAYS shiny, unlike a recently-returned modern iteration from a different firm that had what looked like almost rusted stains after one use and trip through the dishwasher. Heats quickly on my induction range, with no vibrating metal sounds, further highlighting its quality build. I anticipate many years of happy cooking from this little workhorse!

Love this thing!Easy to clean, large enough capacity to steam cook four large sweet potatoes or a half dozen medium Irish potatoes and a half dozen medium carrots, or a dozen eggs.I steam cook all of the above once a week and keep them in the fridge for healthy meals and snacks.MUCH better than the small, collapsible steam basket I formerly used. One of my favorite cookware purchases ever!

I’ve owned this for the past 6 years and it’s my go-to steamer when I need to steam dinner veggies, or whatever. It’s small and light enough to not be cumbersome, yet big enough to steam enough veggies for a 2 person meal. I have a larger pot and steamer insert for when I need to steam multiple sweet potatoes or something, but this thing is nice for those smaller portions. Boils water quickly enough to not piss me off, but not as quick as a high end multi clad brand.

SS pot with steamer is big enough for 2 people, the description gives the size. I have used it for vegetables, and for corn. 2 corn broken in half fit just fine. The handles stay cool which is very nice .

Es de tamaño mediano, acabados excelentes, la usamos para las papillas de mi hijo. Al ser inoxidable no se crean esas manchas que con recipientes de aluminio si.

Me encantó.

I'm not one to get overly steamed up about things, but my wife liked my first attempt at steaming vegetables. I put three types in the basket at once - carrots, broccoli, and spring onions, and steamed them for 10 minutes. Even my wife agreed that the succulent taste of the vegetables was preserved, each with its own distinct flavour. There is about 2 inches of room for water below the basket, so you'd have to be absent for a long time to boil the pot dry. It is important to follow the simple instructions - put the steamer on a correctly matching size burner, and then the handles won't get too hot from heat going up the outer sides.ADDED AFTER 2 MONTHS: I just ordered my second one of these as the first was such a success. Now I can steam cook a piece of fish (salmon or halibut) and also steam my vegetables in the other. This means that I can cook a highly nutritious and healthy meal with very easy clean up, and no knowledge of fancy recipes.

I got this because I was tired of dealing with the collapsible type of steamer that you set in the bottom of a sauce pan. This is certainly a cut above, much easier to get hot food out without burning yourself and easier to clean. The quality of the pot itself seems fine but one somewhat glaring problem with the whole system is that the handles get extremely hot when you're heating food for any length of time. Call me lazy but I don't like having to get two hot pads to take little a pot off the stove when a better design would eliminate the that extra effort. I steamed some extra tough Kale other day and the pot was on the burner at high heat for over 15 minutes maybe 20 and I became concerned when I noticed a slight crazing or fine cracking on the surface of the plastic handles, also a slight plastic chemical odor. It seems fine now that the pot is cool. Other than this one problem the size is nice for one or two people and the pot seems pretty functional.

Have used Farberware for decades and love it for durability, easy to clean, non-aluminum safety, and overall appearance. Also love a steamer that does not require reaching into the center of hot food to serve. I also have the larger set of this design. This combination pot is perfectly sized to feed a family of 4-6 a meal's worth of steamed broccoli, carrots, green beans, etc. In contrast to my larger set, this one has a see-through glass lid rather than the stainless steel - nice to see what is going on color wise. Only problems with this new 3-quart combo are first, right out of the box, I noticed the marred/speckled interior that others have mentioned recent Chinese imported Farberware can have. My 15 year old larger set still has the nice mirror appearance of its original finish and, secondly, on my gas range the handles get blazing hot. If I turn the flame down enough to keep this from happening the cooking time is prolonged. I will adjust, but can expect that these handles will degrade over time and it is just annoying to have to use hot pads when that has never been an issue with Farberware handles before. Overall, I really like these combo units getting steamer and cook pot use from basically the same storage space.

This steamer is the mainstay of my kitchen cookware. I have purchased 2 in the past (last being 2010) and am about to buy a third. This is not because of any fault on the part of the Farberware company, just on myself, the user. I am a forgetful cook and am known for my burned pots and pans. This one takes it well, and normally I can scrub off the "burny" stuff, but with daily use over several years, these mishaps add up, and I'm again ready for a new one, if nothing more, for aesthetic reasons. And I'm happy to pay the moderate price. Since I use it daily, I like to leave it on my stove, ready for the next meal, and so I want it to look nice, and after 4-5 years of my "accidents," it's no longer that pretty, although functional. The fact that the handles get hot is not a big issue with me. I have pot holders and use them appropriately. This is a very nice quality steamer, and if you're a cook who likes fresh veggies, properly cooked, you will love it. I also steam meats occasionally (chicken, fish) for a fat-free meal, and this steamer is not only good, it's also quick. Yams come out nicely and as tasty as they do from the oven, as long as you're not one who needs crispy baked skins. I can honestly say I couldn't keep house without my Farberware steamer, and am looking forward to my new one...with promises to myself to be more careful with it this time! But if, after too many burn-outs, I need a new one, I'll gladly shell out the $29 or so again for this great-quality product.
