TLDR: -1 for style points, otherwise pretty okayThe handle flange joint is fuggly. It wouldn't have taken that much more effort to do a sleeved connection here. The design of the handle mount has been revised since the two reviews that show cracks. I'm still not super impressed with the strength of the design but it's better than it was. I'll reinforce it at some point but should be okay for now.I had intended to build my own from scratch but my source for cheap steel has dried up. Probably couldn't build it for this price if I had to buy over the counter.

This is a high quality, very sturdy step system that exceeded my expectations. I had to return the first order because I accidentally ordered the one that sits on top of the tongue of the trailer rather than the one that mounts to the side. The metal is thick, the surface has superior grip, and it is very easy to install. I only wish the the screws for the handle were a little longer so I could get nylon nuts for extra security. I would highly recommend this product, especially after looking at ones for more than double the price from several other manufacturers.

Cheap made handle unstable. After 6 months handle broke almost causing body injury. Of course only 30 days to return.

Well I looked over couple steps for my Ranger RT188 and came across these. Was worried a bit being first review for them. Has everything i was looking for in steps and fits the rt188 perfect. I'm 6'3 285lb and it's sturdy and holds me while going up and down the steps. For sure easier getting on and off my boat. Just got it and used it first day on the water. So far so good and half the price for the value of boat steps. Also easy to install and nice addition to the trailer.

We recently received a 16ft fishing boat from my in-laws and quickly realized that getting in/out of the boat when it was on the trailer was exceedingly difficult. We found these and they really helped! These steps feel pretty heavy-duty when you take them out of the package. Installation was a bit challenging for our trailer because we don't have a very long tongue - not a lot of space to put the steps, and we ended up having to rearrange where our spare tire is kept in order to make room. The actual installation, itself, wasn't too bad but the holes didn't quite line up right for a 3" square strut on the trailer. There are enough holes in the mounting plate that we were able to make it work fine, but I kind of expected for the price that these would line up with no issue - a 3" wide tongue is pretty standard.Once we had these installed, I was a bit disappointed in the flexing that occurred when we use the steps. I know they are secure, but having some bend and wobble is a bit discerning. After using this a few times I checked the welds and they all seem pretty good, but I'll continue to keep an eye on them.As an aside, please note that the steps are a bit smaller than what they appear in some of the photos, all of which are obviously doctored and do not show the steps ACTUALLY installed on a boat trailer and do not really show a person using them. One photo makes it appear that the support pole at the top is nearly the height of the 6' tall person "using" the steps and that is not the case - the pole sticks up perhaps 36 inches from the top step. One nice thing about these steps is the black powder-coating that is applied - I think it will help protect these from the elements and it provide some good traction on the steps, themselves.A final word of caution if you are considering these (or similar) steps - one of the photos shows a girl "walking up them" (not really) to get in a boat with a trolling motor on the front. Our boat has just that, and while the steps certainly help getting up into the boat, the trolling motor gets in the way big time. Since we rarely, if ever, use the trolling motor, we're planning on taking it off next summer, anyway, but keep that in mind as it is an obstacle on a lot of fishing boats.

I ordered this for a boat that we share with our son and its currently there so this will be a pre-installation review. I did actually temporarily set it up on a large timber just to make sure that it was safe to use. I have to say that it is very well made and sturdy as long as the welds hold up. Given the way they design each brace and step configuration I am not concerned to much with failure however I will be keeping an eye on those spots as well as where the base connects to the vertical bar. So, if I like it so much why only three stars? Basically, what you have here is a few pieces of metal welded together and bolts used to mount it in place. The entire process could be assembled by someone at a welding shop for a fraction of the cost including the necessary metal parts. This is just simply too much to ask for a relatively simple and straightforward set of steps. If this was $100 less, it would be more justifiable to purchase rather than have someone make it for you or attempt it on your own to create.
