The device which allows you to convert your negatives into pictures using your phone is great and very reasonably priced. The device is plastic, so over time if not careful with it, can break. The setup is very easy and it comes with an app you can download to allow you to capture the slide properly into a picture on your phone. I see others have been successful and so I didn't give it 1 star since it works for some but for me, it did not work. For some reason, it just would not focus properly and the image was blurry. I flipped the negative, went into a dark space, use the Color Negative and Color Positive, even the B&W though the negative was color, to see if it would work and it did not. I tried adjusting the color using the slider, though it provided richer colors, the image was never clear and it did not work. I have an iPhone 16 Pro Max and again, I was not able to make it work.

It's a little hard to tell from the description, but this isn't an electronic device that digitizes negatives and slides. It's a stand you use to position your smartphone's camera above a light box powered by two AA batteries. Using their free iOS or Android app, you slip your negative or slide into the holder in the base, position your phone's lenses so the negative is centered below them, crop the image so it fills the screen, make any desired editing adjustments (such as applying an overall filter, changing the exposure and/or contrast, and adding an optional frame), and then save it to your phone's photo app. If you prefer, you can use your phone's built-in camera app, but doing so won't change negatives into positive images unless it or a photo app has that capability. While it takes several minutes of tweaks and adjustments to convert a single negative into an image you'll like, this simple device and the editing capabilities of its free app do a great job for a very affordable price. Other than your phone and the free app, everything you need is included in the box.

I have a mixed review on this item. The scanner is great, you set your phone above in the holder as you place your negative over the light table below. I was able to use use my photo camera app and crop to get decent pictures. So I would give it a 4 star, because I wish the app would have been better. I never downloaded it because it asked to have access to my phone's microphone and other elements that would have no purpose in taking simple photos on my phone. Camera yes, but microphone- no! for that I took off another star. The company who set up the app has a hotmail.com email, so the legitimacy is questionable.

I'll agree with the other reviewers and note that this is not exactly a scanner, but I'm happy to say that I'm really glad I have it! It makes scanning very easy. Why isn't it a scanner? Because the work of scanning as we think of it takes place on your phone. The free app they guide you towards with a QR code works just fine, btw. (I tried my "Filmbox" app, and it wasn't mastering the particular distance needed for this device.) So, why would you buy this? Because getting set up to do scans efficiently is not as easy as you might think. This is a clever set-up that allows you to thread your negatives through a channel and onto the illuminated plate with little difficulty and an easy way to push and pull it through. It's a smart design. Once you get the hang of it, you can plow through lots of negatives in short order, shooting positives on your camera and this app, as you see fit and editing right then and there. The app they pair with it "PicScanner" allows for some basic, but quite functional, editing. The pics end up in your phone gallery so distributing them from there is easy. I had film from three old rolls from my childhood that I recently discovered and had the best time running through and snapping up images. Importantly, it will handle black and white negatives, color negatives, and color slides. Cell phone cameras these days ain't bad and if you good about keeping the room dark once you've lined up your line of scanned items you can achieve very nice results. The apparatus also folds back up for storage and that will have the benefit of keeping the dust off the illuminated plate. It's not made of particularly resilient plastic, so you'll have to be careful with it. To be honest, I wasn't expecting much, and I was delighted and will be looking to use this again.

Some decent engineering went into design and build on this thing. This is a single 35mm slide or 35mm film strip viewing adapter for a cell phone. It took me less than 3 minutes to unbox and assemble. It comes with batteries (the only electronics on this as a cold led light) and while it doesn't feel flimsy, it certainly isn't up to rough handling. The shell comes apart, and the top has two legs that slot into the bottom. A sliding bracket spring expands to hold your phone, and you line up your camera with the light box below. Slide in your 35mm photo and then zoom your camera in and you can take a picture and move on.I have friends who always find 35mm negatives and slides when cleaning out old boxes and its always a problem in how to view them. This allows digitization simply with minimal muss and fuss. Would like it to be a bit more hefty plastic, so one star off.Can recommend - if you need to view old family photoslides, this is a handy portable tool.
