As to software, CyberLink Media Suite 10 for Windows OS is available for download free of charge . PowerDirector 19 allows you to import, edit and author your home movies.

PureRead4

When read errors caused by scratches or fingerprints occur when importing (ripping) audio CDs, using this function allows for automatic detection of the disc state, adjustment of the read method using an original algorithm, and then re-reading of the disc. This minimizes error data interpolation. *Not all discs or all portions of discs may be playable if they are too damaged.

Can be placed vertically

Can be placed vertically on either side, and features ridged construction that offers high performance and a pleasing design

Comes with four insulators for use in a horizontal configuration and eight for use in a vertical configuration. In addition to the horizontal configuration, the drive can be placed vertically, allowing you to use it in a configuration that suits the layout of your workspace.

reasons for selecting a pioneer blu-ray drive

Pioneer Blu-ray drives are the go-to drive for many users including for professional use, to the extent that Pioneer optical drives have become the drives of choice.

There are many reasons for this—Pioneer devices have many unique features that take advantage of long-cultivated knowledge and technology accumulated in the development of optical drives, as well as being one of the few manufacturers to not only design in-house the optical pickup, one of the most important parts in the design of optical drives, but to use in-house development and manufacture for the optical drive itself.

Here, we’ll introduce the reasons that Pioneer’s Blu-ray drives are the drives of choice for a wide range of users.

history

The history of Pioneer optical disc drives started with the development of LaserDiscs, and the company continued with the development and manufacture of all optical disc drives, including for CDs, DVDs, and Blu-rays. This optical disc drive technology and expertise accumulated over many years is fundamental to the performance and quality of current Pioneer Blu-ray drives.

quality

Pioneer uses in-house development and manufacture for everything—from optical pickups through to disc transport mechanisms, control circuitry for these, and even the chassis. This drive condenses our expertise in optical disc technology going back to the era of the LaserDisc, enabling stable read and write operations.

reliability

Pioneer Blu-ray drives are renowned for their high writing quality, and are used for storage of historical documents such as those in libraries and museums, examination and treatment data in medical institutions, academic content and research data in educational institutions, and master data at broadcasters. The drives are also used for the storage of confidential documents, statistical data, and other data in government offices.

technology

In previous drives, when a read error occurred because of problems such as scratches or fingerprints on music CDs, this section with the error was interpolated and the sound approximated from this. Pioneer Blu-ray drives include PureRead technology, a unique technology for accurately reading data from music CDs. This technology automatically determines the state of discs that have scratches and makes adjustments accordingly to use an optimal read method, thus providing reading of music CDs that is as close as possible to the original.

mechanism

Different to the predominant tray-type used in slim external USB drives, our unique slot loading mechanism provides ease-of-use with an ingenious, novel configuration. Additionally, the high-speed stationary type incorporates a disc resonance stabilizer that also calculates airflow when the disc is rotating at high speeds. This mechanism provides more stable writing. "A range of other innovations provide industry-leading stability in writing and read operations. "

design

Pioneer’s unique design blends a luxurious design with the functionality of a space-saving clamshell type that opens and closes vertically, as well as a slot loading type that enables easy loading and removal of discs.

sustainability

Some optical disks can be stored for as long as 200 years or more, reducing waste from the disposal of data storage equipment.

Optical discs themselves are fully recyclable, so they are truly a sustainable data storage medium. Also, apart from when they are handling data, optical disc drives use no power, and are thus kind to the environment. In addition to comprehensive power-saving measures such as the unique Custom Eco function, the design and manufacture of Pioneer products takes into account the various environmental regulations of different countries, including compliance with the European RoHS Directive (10 substances) regarding restrictions on the use of certain specific hazardous substances included in electrical and electronic devices.

review

Most reviews of Pioneer optical disc drives are extremely positive. We invite you to browse the high ratings of reviews of Pioneer optical disc drives, attainable only because of our long work with optical discs.

I bought this drive solely to take advantage of the Kaleidescape Disc to Digital program. I first tried another (cheaper) drive Kaleidescape recommended, the Buffalo Mediastation, and it crapped out on me within just a few days of use.The drive works just fine for my intended purpose. Please note your Strato will need to be on and in the Disc to Digital mode (blinking Kaleidescape logo) before this player's drive door will operate. Also, since this drive supports UHD, I recommend you try reading your UHD discs too for the Kaleidescape library, as I found some of them are actually supported despite Kaleidescape officially saying otherwise.

The drive is over-priced, the power cable is awkward, Drive Utility is still effectively Windows-only, and LibreDrive compatibility is broken at the moment…But the drive itself is excellent. It is significantly faster than my beloved BDR-XD05, and much better at (accurately) reading through nicks and scratches. It's the next best thing to an old-fashioned internal drive.

This review is for the product not the seller.I had a very reliable LightScribe blue ray burner that also did up to BD-R DL and I wanted an upgrade so I can burn BD-R XL 100GB/128GB discs. Initial experience is great, burned a Verbatim 100GB BD-R XL M-Disc 6x in about an hour, and it also passed file verification when done. Case is plastic and drive is very quite but, some minor sound resonance can be hear if plastic case is a bit loose or touching something other than flat on it's rubber feet. I bought the external unit for future proofing and being able to move it from system to system. I do own a case that has 5.25" bays if I need to mount it internally. That is the great thing about this external unit, that if you take it apart you can remove drive and mount it internally in a computer case if you want to. It is powered by SATA data connection and SATA power connector too. Case has two back screws and to remove you just slide the two plastic halves of lids front to back to separate, the rest is easy. I chose not to installed any software or additional drivers and worked out of the box in Windows 10 with BurnAware no problems. Shipped firmware is v1.01.Update: I can confirm drive is LibreDrive enabled in MakeMKV with above listed firmware and I was able to backup personal copies of 4K UHD Blu-ray disks as well as regular Blu-ray movies.

The new product I ordered was actually used. The cables weren’t bound with wire, the plastic cap wasn’t on the electric plug, all the rubber feet (both for the bottom and sides) were already installed (and not in the suggested places), the protective plastic on the front was already removed, and the firmware was 2 months newer than the manufacturing date. Somebody probably unwittingly broke libredrive with the update and returned it, which then Pioneer resold again as new.
